Sydney Food Diary: Paddock on Crown, Surry Hills

img_5841 Casual, tasty food on Crown Street

That little cluster of restaurants around Four Ate Five and the Organic Cafe was packed out on the Sunday we were looking for somewhere casual to eat. And here’s a new place: Paddock on Crown. I’m sure just yesterday there was a (failing) Austrian restaurant here. The Sydney restaurant market is a tough place.

img_5842It was a nice atmosphere, lots of natural light in a converted terrace house, and the food was great. The menu was simple so I didn’t have high expectations but the fries were perfectly crispy, a cut above most places. My pal thought his sandwich was great, and my tandoori wrap was just fine. Reasonably priced. We skipped coffee to head down to Gnome down the street, but I think this is a good relaxed option on Crown Street for a casual bite to eat. Not too hip or stuffy (and with a name like Paddock it could be).
